This year was indeed full of ups and downs for all Nigerians, the downs been the thorough Shege of the T-pain economy. But fortunately, we Genz had the Ups to keep us entertained. every month has it own viral trend to keep us lively. Which ones do you remember, Well let’s take a trip down memory lane.

Here are the Top trends on Social media this year:

1. Gwo Gwo Gwo Gwo

   I think we all remember well the famous dance trend by Popular comedian Brainjotter. it was funny dance trend he started that vibe to “Ka Esi Le” Song by legendary musician Mike Ejeagha. It took over social media and lasted for up to two months, with many of your favorite celebrities participating in the trend.

2. The Suspect Challenge

   Personally, when the challenge started it was fun, then i start to hate it mid way because of the hypocrisy that comes with it. Suspect wants to lose weight but she is eating Eba at 1am 🤣 . it was a challenge that was fun to watch as i said earlier. it was about spilling tea, friends and families were exposing each others secrets. Before the trend fades away, i am sure it lead to some fights though none of them happened online.

3. We Listen, We don’t Judge Challenge

   This is another trend that went viral on social media. it involves people coming out to reveal some of their deepest secrets and expect people not to judge, well i sure do judge many of them, cos some people are crazy fr 🤣 .

4. Lagartha

   This is a trend that started when a popular social media influencer named Egungun had an interview with a lady named Lagartha. it was funny trend that was hard to forget and many Nigerians hop on it and made it more hilarious.

5. Very Demure

   Nigerians really abused this trends, cos to some people the word Demure is a new word they just discovered and you trust Nigerians to make a big deal out of it. the trend actually started on Tiktok then it went on all social media platforms.

6. I Am A Chosen

   This trend started from a popular church in Nigeria “Lord’s Chosen” where a married woman from the church narrated an interesting dream that captured the attention of Nigerians. The trend involves Nigerians shouting “I am a Chosen” to transform their situation and trust me it was hilarious cos i also participated in the trend.

7. NO GREE FOR ANYBODY

   For me personally, this was the best trend of the year, and the fact that it happened early in the year made it very popular and it became our Mantra for the year 2024. At a point this year it became every Nigerians favorite phrase and people used it when someone tries to chance them or cheat them in any way.
