Is Public Health not a Medical Science Course?

Sometimes the structure in which organizations or employers writes their job description when putting out a vacancy post can be very annoying.

I came across a job post on telegram earlier this week and it says “corp members who studied medical science related course needed for internship positions, except those who studied public health”.

Which brings me to the question – is public health not a medical science related course?

I don’t know about you all, but to me it sounds diminishing. If someone who studied public health sees this job post, how will they feel. Should they feel inferior to other medical science course graduates?

To be clear, we also have community health which is also a medical science course and probably a branch of public health.

These organizations and employers need to do better.

The week actually started well…

There is a way your weekend will end; you will definitely know the week ahead will be interesting and less stressful. Like ending your Sunday in an interest way increases your chances of having a better week.

Well, I ended my weekend in an interesting way. I mean while not, it was actually Eid-el-kabir (the muslim ileya day) and I ate to my satisfaction.

P.S: I am not a foodie oo!🤣 . I just don’t like missing out on free food opportunities.

Now let me take you to the wonderful part. The week started off with a two days break, I repeat two days break.

I mean what’s better than starting the new week with two days off especially having a break on Monday, Na only 9-5 people sabi that wonderful feeling.

A break without watching a movie is a boring one to me.

These two series came out this week, in case you missed it.

  • House of Dragons S2E1: After much anticipation, the second season of the fantasy drama television series came out officially on Monday. To be sincere, with how the previous season ended, this new season will be nothing short of action packed GbasGbos 😄 .

  • Power Book — S4: It is still the early stages of the season with just episode 2 dropping earlier this week. Tariq is faced with the situation of making money, staying safe from Noma and keeping his family protected from both the Tejada’s and Noma. My favorite part of the episode is where a question was asked and it says thus “What type of person decides that they are worthy of leading or What makes someone want to govern the lives of others”. Series of answers were given, and they are --;

    1. Greed. People want power, wealth and fame. They are basically narcissists. But to be candid, is that not what drives most human behavior.

    2.  Another answer was that, they are some good people who only wants to do social good and they believe they have the best ideas of achieving that for example Martin Luther King and so on. To be fair, that seems true but what is actually behind them thinking they have the best ideas to do so. “Self-aggrandizement”, cos no matter what their goal is they will always think they are the best person to do it and that for me will always amount to greed at some point.

    3. The last answer was that maybe these people want it more than others. But where does the word “want” comes from. It comes from Greed and self-entitlement.

I want you guys to think about those three answers and what I said about them. If you like to give feedback to it, kindly send a reply to this mail or click this link https://wa.link/uh8bj9 to message me on WhatsApp.

Podcasts are fast becoming a thing for Nigerian Youth, which one do you listen to?

From the start of the year, I have developed interest in podcast just like other Nigerian youths. This interest has grown over the last two months.

My favorite one currently is the Honest Bunch Podcast and sorry to say; I have observed that in most episodes in which a man is invited as guest, they give a lot of knowledgeable and motivational content than when ladies are invited to the show. An example is the Saida Boj episode. For over a week, the internet was marveled by her low-level IQ statements.

This week guest is Mr Olakunle Soriyan. He said a lot of things but two statements sticked to my mind –“You don’t just pursue your dreams, you also position yourself for your dream”. He also emphasized on the importance of Today or should I say the Present which makes me wonder “Are we ever in the future?”.

Terms and Conditions by PulseNaija is another wonderful podcast you should try out. This week title is – Second chances, Women and Life Reflections with Soma Bbnaija.

On this episode Soma Bbnaija talked about second chances, women and life reflections. He also added that he loves to admire himself and how he changed his game plans in Big brother house when he discovered something about the guys in the house.

  • The Ojude Oba 2024.

  • The Ojude Oba festival is one of the major tweets that took over the week. If I am not exaggerating, reactions and comments keeping coming up the whole week about the wonderful and colorful event. For those that have little knowledge of what the Ojude Oba festival is all about, here is a little fact about it:

“The festival is over a century old and is celebrated on the third day after Eid-el-Kabir. It is celebrated at the palace of the Awujale of Ijebuland (Traditional Ruler of ijebu land). The festival features many traditional regalia and cultural performances, each group display their traditional attire and cultural performances. One of the most exciting facts is that each group never repeat the previous year attire. No Be Steeze be That 🥶 😎 .
