Where the job at……
EARLIER this week, here in Offa, I was told they celebrate primary and secondary school graduations in a different way compared to how it is done In Lagos state. They celebrate this graduations in grand style by choosing an Ankara outfit to be worn by the graduating pupils and their families. The families even go to the extent of inviting their loved ones and friends to the graduation. And, most of the times it takes place In a big open space. In Lagos, we take things like this in the slightest form, some parents don’t even pay for school parties or graduations because they deemed it not too important. But that’s not the case here in Offa every milestone promotion a pupil get, deserves a celebration for it.
At first, when I heard of the process I was surprised and thought it is somehow. But after thinking about it for a while, I was able to come into conclusion that perhaps they are celebrating the little things and that alone is a huge victory on it own. So, that particular process made me think of how we ignore the little winnings in life or how we ignore the little things in life. How we fail to realize that celebrating the little things sometimes pave way for bigger winnings.
Here is an article I put together for us to understand what it means to celebrate the little things.
"Celebrating the Little Things in Life":

However, it's essential to recognize that celebrating the little things can have a profound impact on our well-being, happiness, and overall success.
Celebrating the little things means acknowledging and appreciating the small wins, accomplishments, and joys in life. It could be something as simple as enjoying a beautiful sunset, savoring a good cup of coffee, or receiving a kind word from a friend. These tiny moments may seem insignificant, but they can bring us immense joy and fulfillment.
By celebrating the little things, we can:

Bipolar Disorder
during the week, i was reading through one of Zikoko Newsletter Series. The newsletter contains the story of a Nigerian woman who battled and lived with bipolar disorder for 22 years. She was first diagnosed with bipolar disorder and depression at the age of 19 after surviving an abuse-related mental breakdown. In the newsletter she shared her frustration with how mental illness has affected her relationships, quality of life and her ability to parent her children.

after reading her story and understanding her frustrations, I came to the agreement that only few Nigerians know what bipolar disorder is all about and even those that know about it, have no idea of how to relate with someone going through this crisis.
so I put it on myself to shed more light on the subject for those of us that have no idea of what is called bipolar disorder and how we can treat our loved ones or someone close to us, if they are diagnosed with this mental illness.
What is bipolar disorder?
Bipolar disorder is a mental health condition that affects a person's mood, energy, and ability to function. It's like having extreme ups and downs, like a rollercoaster ride.
Imagine having two different personalities:
One personality is very happy, energetic, and confident (like being "on top of the world").
The other personality is very sad, hopeless, and low-energy (like being "in a dark hole").
People with bipolar disorder swing between these two extremes, often without warning. It's not just a matter of being happy or sad; it's a serious condition that can affect daily life.
Identifying bipolar disorder
Here are some signs that someone might be experiencing a bipolar episode:
Manic Episode (the "up" phase):
- Feeling extremely happy, energetic, or irritable for at least a week
- Having trouble sleeping or feeling like they don't need sleep
- Talking very fast or having racing thoughts
Depressive Episode (the "down" phase):
- Feeling extremely sad, empty, or hopeless for at least two weeks
- Losing interest in activities they usually enjoy
- Changes in appetite or sleep patterns
- Fatigue or loss of energy
- Difficulty concentrating or making decisions.
Keep in mind that everyone experiences ups and downs in life, but bipolar disorder is a serious condition that requires professional treatment. If you or someone you know is showing these signs, it's essential to seek help from a mental health professional.
Supporting a Loved One with Bipolar Disorder: A Guide for Family Members
Bipolar disorder is a complex mental health condition that affects millions of people worldwide. While it can be challenging for the individual diagnosed, it also impacts their loved ones. As a family member, you play a vital role in supporting your loved one's recovery and well-being. In this article, we'll explore ways you can assist a patient with bipolar disorder.
Educate Yourself
Understanding bipolar disorder is crucial in providing effective support. Learn about the condition's symptoms, treatment options, and management strategies. This knowledge will help you better understand what your loved one is going through.
Encourage Treatment Adherence
Medication and therapy are essential components of managing bipolar disorder. Encourage your loved one to stick to their treatment plan, attend appointments, and take medication as prescribed.
Offer Emotional Support
Living with bipolar disorder can be emotionally challenging. Be a listening ear, offer words of encouragement, and provide a safe space for your loved one to express their feelings.
Help with Daily Tasks
During episodes of mania or depression, daily tasks may become overwhelming. Offer to help with household chores, grocery shopping, or meal preparation.
Encourage Self-Care
Support your loved one in practicing self-care activities, such as exercise, meditation, or hobbies. These activities can help manage symptoms and improve overall well-being.
Set Boundaries
Caring for a loved one with bipolar disorder can be stressful. Set boundaries to maintain your own physical and emotional well-being.
Seek Support for Yourself
Don't forget to seek support for yourself! Consider joining a support group or seeking counseling to cope with the challenges of caring for a loved one with bipolar disorder.
Conclusion
Supporting a loved one with bipolar disorder requires patience, understanding, and encouragement. By educating yourself, encouraging treatment adherence, offering emotional support, and promoting self-care, you can make a significant difference in their recovery journey. Remember to take care of yourself too, and seek support when needed.

THE NEW JAMB CUT-OFF MARK
Earlier this week, jamb matriculation board announced the admission cut off mark for the admission year 2024/2025.
The Cut-off marks for different institution goes thus:
Universities – 140
Polytechnic – 100
College of education – 80-100
Netizens have taken into social media to give different comments on the new updates. For me specifically, I feel the educational level in Nigeria is dropping every year. Cut off marks for the past few years keep dropping drastically.
Teenagers of nowadays spend much time in on social media and neglect things that matters such as their studies. Even parents keep little eye on their children, they take less actions when it comes to education.
The most annoying part is that most of these teenagers are still in school when they sat for jamb, which means they are still fresh and still acquiring knowledge, and yet they perform woefully.
A lot of tutorial centers take advantage of this situations by imposing high lesson fees and giving guarantees they can’t keep up to.
Everyone just needs to do better when it comes to Education in Nigeria.
When I got admitted into Lagos state polytechnic. The jamb cut off mark then was 180, now cutoff mark for polytechnic admission is 100, like wtf is that massive decrease from.
